Stan Lee Spills Beans on Cameo in the Amazing Spider-Man
Back in the good old days of Hollywood, there was Alfred Hitchcock. He always managed to find a way to get a cameo for himself in all his films, even in ones that seemed impossible. Fans may remember Lifeboat, which was a film that had the cast in the middle of the ocean in a rubber raft for the entire time. This left no way for the director to make a walk-in appearance, so how was he going to show up? Well in one scene, they had a newspaper, and in the newspaper, you guessed it, was a picture of Hitchcock.
Stephen King, who has movies created based on his books, is also one that loves to get into his films if possible, although he’s not near as adamant about it. He has, however, appeared in many such as Maximum Overdrive where he played a man who had a battle with an ATM machine, and had a full role in Creepshow.
Well now, Stan Lee seems to be also taking that path with cameos in the various Marvel movies, though he hints that it’s always the director’s idea and that he loves doing them, even though we think part of him wants to. He was in Thor released this month, and will be in Captain America: The First Avenger which premiers next month. But the one he is currently boasting about is the one for Spiderman, which he did more than drop a hint about at the 2011 Dallas Comic Con. He will not appear, however, in X-Men: First Class.

Lee says that he will be playing a man who is a librarian, who is listening to music in headphones and stamping books. In the background there is a huge fight between Spider-Man and the Lizard and he doesn’t hear a thing, but just goes about his business like nothing ever happened. I don’t know if the director wanted everyone to know that, but you can’t keep a legend like Lee from saying what he wants.
Captain America is due out on July 22nd and Amazing Spider-Man will be released July 3, 2012. Thor is in theaters now.
